Hot Wheels DMC DeLorean Metalflake Silver 2025: A Time-Traveling Toy for Collectors
The Hot Wheels DMC DeLorean Metalflake Silver 2025 is a special die-cast car made by Mattel as part of their Premium Pop Culture line. This tiny car is based on the famous time machine from the Back to the Future movies. The real-life car it’s modeled after is the DeLorean DMC-12, a sports car with shiny silver panels and cool gull-wing doors. The Hot Wheels version has a sparkly silver color called “Metalflake Silver” and includes movie-accurate details like the “OUTATIME” license plate and flux capacitor parts. It was released in 2025 and made in Indonesia. The designer of this Hot Wheels casting is Manson Cheung, who helped bring the movie magic to life in 1:64 scale.



The Real DeLorean: A Car from the Past That Looks Like the Future
The DeLorean DMC-12 was made by the DeLorean Motor Company between 1981 and 1983. It was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and became famous for its stainless steel body and doors that opened upward like wings. Even though it looked super futuristic, the car wasn’t very fast and didn’t sell well at first. Only about 9,000 were made before the company shut down. But everything changed when the DeLorean was used as a time machine in the Back to the Future movies. That made it a pop culture icon! Today, people still love the DeLorean because of its unique look and its role in one of the most beloved movie trilogies ever.



The Designer and the Many Versions of the Time Machine
Manson Cheung is the talented Hot Wheels designer who created the Back to the Future Time Machine casting. He’s known for designing many cool cars for Hot Wheels, especially ones based on movies. Since the first version came out in 2011, there have been over a dozen different versions of the Time Machine. Some have hover wheels, others are painted in different finishes like ZAMAC or matte silver. There’s even a Super Treasure Hunt version from 2019 with special paint and hidden wheels! The 2025 Metalflake Silver version is part of the Pop Culture series and includes all the tiny details fans love, like the rear vents and time circuits.
